IntelliLink P&ID

The IntelliLink P&ID applications family enables P&ID drawings drawn in AutoCAD (or LT) to be electronically 'scanned' to check instrument data contained in drawings against data in the AVEVA Instrumentation Instrument Index. Any differences are reported and can (optionally) be imported/changed in the index. IntelliLink P&ID should work with most drawing symbols and is user configurable. IntelliLink P&ID can also import process line numbers, equipment numbers and inline items such as valves and reducers etc. to create project reports on engineering data contained in the P&ID drawings scanned.

NOTE: IntelliLink P&ID does not provide any drawing features. It works on EXISTING P&ID drawings created in AutoCAD DWG format.

IntelliLink P&ID does not require AutoCAD for auto tag checking/scanning. However IntelliLink P&ID can use AutoCAD to create connectivity including line lists (with source/destination) and update AVEVA Instrumentation 'Plant Connection' data (i.e. line number/equipment number each instrument is connected to) from most existing AutoCAD P&ID drawings. You will not need to redraw P&IDs to get intelligent drawings!

The iDesignOffice application IntelliLink P&ID enables electronic scanning of P&ID Drawings to create lists of P&ID objects for reporting and/or importing into AVEVA Instrumentation or other application. All data can be exported to Excel.

IntelliLink P&ID includes the following features:

Without requiring an AutoCAD license:

  • Scan existing P&ID drawings created in AutoCAD 2000 to 2009 (currently DWG files must be saved in 2006 or earlier file format)
  • Read and extract Line Numbers (Process lines), Equipment Numbers, Instrument tags and Inline items (valves, reducers etc) into a database
  • Create lists of scanned objects - Line Numbers (Process lines), Equipment Numbers, Instrument tags and Inline items (valves, reducers etc)
  • Update database information when P&ID drawings are changed (by re-scanning the drawings)
  • Create reports by object type (see below)

When an AutoCAD license is used (AutoCAD is installed on same PC as IntelliLink P&ID):

  • Hyperlink from the database directly to the AutoCAD drawing and auto-zoom to selected object (Process line, Equipment, Instrument and Inline item)
  • Assign graphical 'grouping' of objects for Process Lines and Equipment and view by those groupings (i.e. show all objects in Line Number: 200-HC-1234)
  • View 'Plant Connection' data for all Process Lines ('From' & 'To'), Instruments and Inline items (i.e Equipment No or Process Line No connected to)

Reports:

IntelliLink P&ID supports the following user definable reports:

  • Instrument List
  • Process Line List
  • P&ID Drawing List (document list)
  • Equipment List
  • Inline Item List (valves, reducers etc)

NOTE: If IntelliLink uses AutoCAD to add 'grouping' then the above reports will include 'Plant Connection' data (i.e Equipment No or Process Line No connected to) and Line Lists will include source and destination information

Integration with AVEVA Instrumentation:

All instrument tags imported from P&IDs by IntelliLink can be checked with tags in the AVEVA Instrumentation Engineer Instrument List (Instrument Index):

  • New tags added to P&IDs are imported into the instrument List
  • Tags deleted from any P&ID are flagged for deletion in the Instrument List
  • Any changes in engineering data (mapped attribute data) and 'Plant Connection' is updated in the Instrument List

NOTE: On importing AVEVA Instrumentation Engineer shows all changes proposed by the IntelliLink P&ID data. Only those proposed changes 'Accepted' by the user are actually made to the Instrument List.
